About Smyth County Conservative
My name is Adam Tolbert. I am a resident of the Saltville area of Smyth County. I am a 2006 graduate of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise in Wise, Virginia with a B.A. in Political Science. I also am a 2008 graduate of Liberty University with a Master of Science in Management. My day job (and sometimes nights and weekends too) is in the field of Information Technology, specifically IT Administration, end-user technical support, planning, and network operations.
I am very interested in government, politics, and technology. In particular I am of the Republican and Conservative ideology. I am active in the Smyth County Republican Party serving as Chairman and Webmaster for the party’s web site and helping out in any way that I can. I have future aspirations to seek political office one day, particularly in Smyth County. A lot can be done to change Smyth County for the better. I could spend a lot of time naming things that should be changed, which I will do over time with this Blog. I am very concerned about the future of Smyth County and do believe that if it is taken in the right direction by the right people, it can become an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
I have been involved in politics since the age of 10. That’s right, I was out doing campaigning at age 10! The first campaign I remember was the 1994 U.S. Senate/House races. That year Oliver North took on Chuck Robb and a guy from Tazewell named Steve Fast took on Rick Boucher. Those didn’t turn out good. The first Smyth County campaign that was really interesting for me was the 1995 Sheriff’s Election between incumbent John Grubb (R) and David Bradley (D). Grubb lost that one, but we worked pretty hard for him and it was a disappointment.
This blog will focus upon news and politics with regard to Smyth County and the Commonwealth.
