Go McCain/Palin!

John McCain couldn’t have made a better choice for VP than that of Gov. Sarah Palin.  She has added to the GOP ticket the equivalent of a “rock star” effect.  Admittedly, I was quite bored with the McCain campaign prior to her being named the VP choice.  Since the announcement I have become even more excited about this election.

Over the weekend we Smyth County Republicans worked a tent at the annual Saltville Labor Day Celebration.  We observed two interesting trends.  One was that interest in registering to vote was on the rise.  We must have handed out at least 10 applications over the 3 days there.  Secondly, the number of well-known Democrats in the area saying they were going to vote for McCain/Palin was shocking.  Many of them cited Sarah Palin as the reason and Obama’s snubbing of Hillary as part of it.  Others just mentioned it in simpler terms, “She (Palin) is good looking.”  Voters always vote on peculiar reasons and I am sure that looks will have something to do with this election.  Only one person of the many we spoke to spoke ill of Palin and their qualm was that she simply was female, which is not a valid point.

Palin’s recent issues with her daughter’s pregnancy goes to further drive home the point that she is a family oriented and common person like most Americans.  I think that this issue helps her more than it hurts her candidacy.

One thing is for certain now.  This ballgame has changed as of Friday.  Obama’s runaway freight train just got detoured onto another track.

On to November and let’s win this thing!!!

I agree, this was a great pick. I keep hearing the folks on tv acting like this was a bad pick but what they seem to forget is this is not a national race. What people in New York or California think doesn’t really matter. The Republicans need Va, Ohio, Florida, and either Minn., Iowa, Colorado, or Pa. This pick will play very well in many of these states.
I also have been hearing many of the same things you have. I am serving as the Republican Finance Chair here in Floyd County. Last night the former Treasurer of the Democrat party called me to see if she could hold a bake sale for Sarah Palin. This is the sort of thing that people in New York City don’t understand.

    Lauren, I definitely agree.

Just earlier today I got an E-Mail from a self-described “life long Democrat/ticket voter” saying that they were going to support McCain/Palin this time around and requested a yard sign.

Peculiar and good things for McCain/Palin are happening out there that the Liberal media denies and side-steps.

Doesn’t it concern you that Govenor Palin has yet to answer legitamite questions from reporters? What is she hiding from? I was a big Clinton supporter, then switched over to McCain…and then they picked Sarah Palin as their vice president…sad, he ruined it.
No one knows what she stands for, she goes around, repeating the same speech over and over again, “thanks but no thanks for that bridge to nowhere”…LIE, “straight-talk express”…realized they don’t say that anymore?
Oh well, McCain did get a kick in the polls in most battleground states, but Obama pretty much has Colorado and Pennsylvania now. Obama is also gaining ground in Florida, a state that has been the Republicans for the past 5 elections.
The only thing that can possibly stop Obama/Biden is the fact that alot of Americans are in-closet racists.
If Sarah Palin was willing to answer questions from reporters, then I might reconsider, but if she continues what she is doing…how do we know she won’t truthfully talk to the people when she is VP

I couldn’t agree more… and we have to keep supporting her and talking not only about her but how bad BO would be for this nation. I have a link of hs voting record set up on this webstie I started a few weeks ago.

Ryan, I think Gov. Palin is answering the questions most of us want answered. One of the main ones I have is what sould be the role of goverment. I love how she believes in the American people. I have to agree with her, what has the federal goverment done well lately. Not very much. I want the govement just to get out of my way and let me live my life.

McCain represented much of what I adore….free thinking, independent, putting country before party, bipartisan, a maverick. Palin represents much of what I detest….sheepish party line quotes, fear mongering, and riling up the prefab home, suburban, wal-mart shopping white trash. McCain should have picked a fellow intellectual like Lieberman. He will lose due to Palin and she can slink back to alaska to moose hunt and watch hockey games, never to be heard of again.
