Marshall Camp is Desperate

At the 9th District GOP Convention on Saturday, Bob Marshall’s representative inferred that Marshall was the only pro-life candidate in the Republican nomination race for U.S. Senate.  That indeed is 100% false.

As Governor of Virginia, Jim Gilmore was successful in pushing for legislation requiring a 24 hour waiting period for abortions, legislation enacting parental notification for minors, and enacted legislation banning partial-birth abortion.

Interestingly, in 1998 it was Governor Gilmore who joined with Delegate Bob Marshall in the fight to keep Hugh Finn alive after the removal of his feeding tube.  Gilmore sued and took the case to the Virginia Supreme Court in the hopes of saving Finn.

Gilmore has a STRONG pro-life record.  The Marshall camp is out spreading falsities and playing with words in the hopes of running up their support.

Your post is misleading. While Gilmore does oppose late term abortions he is okay with some abortions. Del. Marshall has a point when he says he is the only 100% pro-life candidate.
While this did sway my support toward Del. Marshall some what, the real reason I will be supporting Marshall is becouse Gilmore would lose by 20% to Warner. Not only does Gilmore have a bad name in liberal to moderate folks, he is also very disliked by many strong Republicans. I couldn’t tell you how many people I have talked to who have said they would never vote for Gilmore. Most of this isn’t becouse of anything Gilmore has done, but becouse of the bad press he has recieved over the last 10 years. One thing we all should have learned from the Allen campain is the media can just destroy someone if they want to bad enough. There are already a lot of stories out there on how well liked Warner is comparied to Gilmore. Republicans will have a hard enough time this year with out all this to drag them down. Why not nominate Marshall, some one the press hasn’t tried to destroy. A smart campain by Marshall to brand himself as a fighter for the people, a guy who stands up for families, and someone who wants to keep goverment of our back. Marshall has one thing that Gilmore does not have, the ability to market himself the way he wants to.

If you think Gilmore cant win, then Marshall is toast. The pollsters dont even acknowledge him. Ever think there is a reason for that?
Gilmore is the best candidate to defeat Warner.

I will still go with a little known candidate over a sure loser. There is no way short of anouther 9-11 that Gillmore could win. He is polling way behind now, just think what will happen when Warner starts running negative adds. Maybe Marshall doesn’t have a chance, I don’t know. I will we had a good candidate to run but we don’t. I just don’t see how anyone could tell me that Gilmore has a chance. Not only is he disliked but Republicans in general are also disliked this year. He will only live up to the image many have of the Republican Party. A McCain Gilmore ticket this fall would be the best wat to keep conservitives home this November.

Gilmore isn’t pro-life at all. He’d allow the murder of babies under 12 weeks. He’s said it over and over. In fact, he said he has a conviction over it.

Marshall is the only one who can overcome this nonsense. He’s not perfect but he’s more of a conservative and that’s for sure.

Gov. Gilmore can beat Mark Warner as long as he doesn’t fall prey to the losing tactics of current Republican political consultants and operatives.

I am supporting Gilmore but he has already made one bad move by blasting Pres. Bush, which was not received well in some quarters.

The opponent in this race is Mark Warner. My opinion is if Gov. Gilmore sticks to the issues, runs against a liberal dem as opposed to a member of his own party and thrills the old ladies, then victory can be had.

One advantage Gilmore has over Marshall is his war chest, which will be very important in a race against a brazilianaire like Warner.
