On the State of the Union

I think President Bush did a great job on the State of the Union Address tonight. I would have maybe liked to see him further elaborate on certain issues. I think he explained several key things well like the “spying program” and backed it up with an example of Al Qaeda operating in that manner prior to 9/11.

One thing I always find interesting is watching the demeanor of both political sides and the supposedly “non-partisan” officials present like the Supreme Court members, Joint Chiefs, and staff. The Democrats weren’t as a whole too pleased with Bush’s points on several issues. I also found it funny that the Supreme Court Justices and Joint Chiefs had to sometimes think twice about whether they should applaud of stand for certain key points of the President’s speech.

All in all it was a good speech.
