Mandate Basic Online Public Disclosure

December 30th, 2005 10:15 PM by Adam

While I generally am not a supporter of unfunded mandates, I do think Virginia needs a law requiring all localities to post (and keep up to date) certain information on the Internet.
The type of information I am referring to that should be required of localities to be posted on a web site accessible […]

BHC Endorses Cook in 3rd District

December 29th, 2005 9:29 PM by Adam

Wow! That is all I can say at the Bristol Herald-Courier’s endorsement today of Republican Shea Cook in the 3rd House of Delegates Special Election on January 3rd.
Given the BHC’s recent track record of taking Liberal stances, I expected them to side with anybody but a Republican in making an endorsement in this described […]

A 28-page pamphlet ranks Virginia among the 50 states on taxes, government spending, public employment, education funding and Medicaid, the nationwide health-care program for the poor.

Some interesting facts:
Virginia ranks […]

Virginia’s Interim Capitol

December 23rd, 2005 8:38 PM by Adam

Since Virginia’s Capitol Building is undergoing massive renovations, members of the General Assembly will be meeting in an alternate location for the upcoming session. The General Assembly will be meeting in the Patrick Henry Building, formerly called the Old State Library. The Patrick Henry Building now houses the Governor’s Office and other executive […]

Saltville Admits it was Wrong on Goose Hunt

December 22nd, 2005 7:58 PM by Adam

Here is an article from the Roanoke Times discussing the geese hunt held earlier this year in Saltville and why the town won’t be doing it again. It is not often you will see the Town of Saltville admit it did something wrong. This may be the first time ever.

The town’s goose hunt […]
